Within the scope of the Hothouse, there is no limit to the type or number of organizations that Hothouse is prepared work with. Currently the Hothouse is working with the Auckland City Council [+], Locus Design [+], IMO [+], Saint Michel [+], Hort Research [+], Biodegradable Plastic Suppliers [+], Unitec School of Computing [+], Coast [+], Toy Kong [+], Boom Clothing [+], Lexicon [+], and the Unitec School of Design [+].
The way that the Hothouse interacts with these organizations is through the model of design brokerage. Recognising that small to medium enterprises (SME’s) do not always the have the time to seek new design opportunities due to the primary focus of day to day running and keeping in the black, the hothouse works as a design led facilitator working for and between organizations seeking new processes and materials, emergent areas where design thinking can proliferate, and collaborative enterprise spaces with diverse organizations.
